CO₂ Report for a Data Center.
The construction of the new data center at the Lupfig (AG) site marks a significant step in the further development of Switzerland’s digital and cloud ecosystem. As part of the ZHR1 Campus (formerly Metro Campus Zurich West), a state-of-the-art, high-performance data center is being built here that sets new standards in both technology and energy efficiency. With a planned data center area of over 5,000 m², supplemented by approximately 2,000 m² of office space, the new building offers ideal conditions for cloud providers, tech companies, and IT service providers.
A key feature of the new building is its energy-optimized overall design. Cooling is primarily provided through free cooling, supplemented by photovoltaic systems for on-site electricity generation.
As part of the new construction project, Encira is preparing a comprehensive CO₂ life cycle assessment of the construction process. The goal is to transparently track climate-relevant emissions during the construction phase. The assessment is conducted in accordance with SIA 2032.
The accounting is based on SIA 2032, but also takes phases A4 and A5 into account
Emissions from ongoing operations are not included.
